Hi Kristen,
Thank you so much. I'm glad that you are feeling "less hopeless." You have such incredible talents to offer, and are fully in control of your next path. Take charge of your career and shape it the way you want it to be. There is absolutely no doubt you can do it.
Cheers,
Michelle

Michelle:

I so enjoyed listening to you yesterday at the Pink Slip party! Thank you for an incredibly well-timed, inspirational and informative presentation. I joined the ranks of the unemployed yesterday afternoon, and am feeling much less hopeless after hearing what you had to say. Thank you so much!

Best regards,
Kirsten

Hi Charles,
I am so glad the presentation was useful! It is without a doubt much harder to distill the qualities of other people and organizations and sell them than it is to do it for yourself. Your challenge is not unusual and I promise you with a little practice you'll be selling your greatest strengths like a champ and be your own best advocate.
Good luck and thanks for writing!

Michelle:

Thank you for sharing your insight and thoughts about personal branding at the Pink Slip Party.

Just to provide a frame of reference I am excellent at advocating for organizations and other's ideas, but lackluster in doing it for myself. As a result I find myself slinking from one near-do-well organization to another hoping to find a seat for a while rather than stepping out with confidence over demonstrated capabilities that transend the usual.

In short...terrible personal branding and that needs to change now.

Great presentation, thank you for sharing your thoughts and perspectives.

I totally agree with this post. I find the fourth point particularly interesting and completely true. I, a twenty-something Gen Yer, definitely influence my mom, a boomer, fashionwise. My younger brothers, teenage Gen Yers still living at home, influence my mom technologically. She now texts all the time and is jealous of my iPhone.
