HGTV Superstar David Bromstad to Headline Day Three of 2010 Sarasota International Design Summit

Ringling College graduate and host of hit series “Color Splash” returns to alma mater to speak on February 6

Sarasota, FL – (January 19, 2010) – David Bromstad is a man with a mission: to help people get over their fear of color and transform boring rooms into spectacularly inviting spaces. The Season One winner of HGTV’s Design Star and host of the network’s hit show Color Splash will return to Ringling College on February 6 to talk about how he followed his creative passion and put himself on the path to television stardom. Bromstad, who earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts and Illustration degree from Ringling College, is part of a new generation of artists who are making design more accessible, showing legions of fans how to “do-it-themselves” and achieve great design in their own homes.

“We’re extremely proud to have David back on campus to inspire our students and attendees,” said Dr. Larry R. Thompson, president of Ringling College of Art and Design. “His tremendous energy and infectious enthusiasm captivates his audiences. He inspires millions of viewers by demystifying the creative process, and showing them how to achieve great design on their own.”

Bromstad’s keynote at the Sarasota International Design Summit will begin at 9:00 am on February 6 in the new Academic Center on the Ringling College campus. The annual Summit brings together speakers and attendees from diverse disciplines to explore how to use design as a strategic approach for differentiation and competitive advantage in business today. More agenda details are online at www.sarasotadesignsummit.com/2010.

After graduating from Ringling College, Bromstad joined Disney as an illustrator. Later he formed his own company, Bromstad Studio, in Miami Beach, FL. Over the years, he designed dream bedrooms for children, and sharpened his carpentry skills so he could actually build the furnishings and props.
